Olaf Neubert pioneered the Secondary buy side agency concept back in 2002 when there were just 24 dedicated Secondary buyers. The buyers’ universe has grown substantially since then and today more than 80% of the firm’s Secondaries business is concluded with non-traditional Secondary investors such as Family Offices, Insurance Companies, Pension Funds and other investors in Secondaries. Working with the capital side allowed him insights and understanding of their needs and requirements. He built the firm’s reputation on this unique positioning and a track record of delivering attractive transactions and consistent deal flow to Secondaries investors. Olaf is the Founder and Managing Director of TopCap Partners. He is responsible for the management and development of the firm and its clients' product offerings. Olaf has been involved with Private Equity, Venture Capital and Secondaries since the 1990's and has seen our industry expand and mature over the last two decades. He gained deep insights into the industry building the leading Secondaries buy-side agency – originally known under the name Hedges Capital. That afforded him in-depth knowledge of the Alternative Asset industry and a deep network and access to its salient players, be it Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Venture, Secondaries or Real Estate fund managers.
Olaf combines this in a unique blend with a wealth of experience in international relationships and investor contacts acquired over the years in his successful business career in international banking. It is this unique network and his expertise that position him to be one of the more sought after and successful placement agents in the Alternative Asset universe.
Prior to founding his own firms and dedicating himself to Alternative Assets, Olaf spent 16 years as Managing Director with Citibank in international postings. He served in senior executive positions in New York, Buenos Aires, Brussels, Dublin, as Chairman of Citibank AG in Vienna, Austria, and as Managing Director of Citibank Germany in Frankfurt. Olaf is a German and US citizen. He graduated from the University of Hamburg, Germany, with undergraduate degrees in business administration and economics and a Masters in Business Administration with honors. He received his Ph.D. in political science from the Christian Albrechts University of Kiel.
Ken is the CFO and provides financial and Finop services to TopCap Partners. Ken has been a licensed FinOp since 1996 and founded FINOP Services, LLC in 2003. He and 4 staff members provide FinOp and compliance services to broker-dealers throughout the country. He has been FinOP for many types of broker-dealer including but not limited to: self-clearing firms, exchange member firms, municipal, research, introducing and investment banking broker-dealers. Prior to 1996, Ken worked at Creelman & Smith, CPA, a Boston-based accounting firm that specialized in consulting and auditing broker-dealers throughout New England. From 1987 to 1991, Ken was a Compliance Examiner at the Boston District of the NASD where he conducted examinations of self-clearing, market maker, municipal securities and general securities firms throughout the Northeast. Ken holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire and is a licensed CPA.
Dawn joined TopCap at its inception. She has over ten years of experience as an office manager in other enterprises and her experience includes HR, Payroll, A/R and A/P. Prior to working as an office manager she worked for over ten years in the IT field. Dawn has previously worked at the Bank of New York as a PC support analyst and a C programmer, where she developed network applications for PC based customer products. She has also worked at Weight Watchers International and Pricewaterhouse Coopers as a consultant. Dawns brings her IT experience with her to help support the office. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Hofstra University.
